At Midland Lutheran College, we understand the important role that parents play in the lives of their children. Thus, parents are an important part of our campus community. We want to be available to serve you as a parent and answer the questions and concerns that you might have. The experience of beginning college life is challenging and exciting for parents as well as students, and we expect you may have questions about this very important period in your son or daughter’s life. Visit with Your Child
Coming to campus with your son or daughter for a college visit can provide you the opportunity to hear firsthand about Midland as well as ask the important questions. Plus, you will have opportunities to meet other parents that have the same concerns and questions that you might have.
Concerned about $$
As a parent, we understand that one of your main concerns is often finances. The facts speak for themselves: Over 92 percent of all full-time Midland students receive financial aid. For more on scholarships, grants, payment plans, and financial aid information please visit our financial aid page.

In addition to tuition and fees, room, and board, the cost of attending Midland for one academic year includes estimated costs for such items as books, $800; personal expenses, $1,300; and transportation, $300. Students should keep in mind that these figures are subject to the personal control of the student and may vary from case to case according to the degree of economy exercised.
These figures are meant to be only an aid in estimating expenses.
Did you know there is a scholarship for legacies? The Alumni/Family/Legacy Grant provides $2,000/year to students whose sibling, parent or grandparent is or was a student at MLC (limit one per student).
Confidentiality of Information
In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, often referred to as the “Buckley Amendment” or FERPA, non-directory information regarding a student will not be released outside the college community without that student‘s permission except in the limited circumstances stated within the act.

The College routinely publishes material classified as directory information that is permissible within FERPA. Such materials include the student directory, news stories on recipients of honors, a listing of participants in student activities, membership in campus organizations and the like. Directory information may include majors, minors, dates of attendance, date of birth, email address, enrollment status (full-time or part-time), address, and date of graduation. Individuals, however, may request their name not appear in directory information by notifying the Registrar’s Office in writing.
