Leonidas the Warrior

Midland Lutheran College students voted to name the new Warrior icon. Students had five choices, as well as the option to write in their own selection.

Well, we asked students to give us their opinions, and they replied “Come and Get Them.”

The name that received the most votes was a student write-in selection.

Those familiar with history know the story of the brave stand made by 300 Spartans and their king at Thermopylae in the year 480 b.c. Here the small band defended their democratic, free society from an invading army bent on enslavement and tyranny.

It is to commemorate their bravery, commitment, and dedication to an open and free society that Midland Lutheran College students have spoken…
