Petrow memorial award winners

The Petrow Award is named in memory of George “Babe” Petrow, the first Midland athlete to win four letters in a single season as a freshman. He attended Midland from 1940 – 1943 when he entered the armed forces. He died in 1944 while serving with the paratroops in Holland during WW II. His Midland classmate, Luther Heller, initiated the Petrow Memorial Award in 1946-47, and has since been awarded annually to the outstanding, all-around male athlete at Midland Lutheran College.
