Alumni Board Member Job Description

Purpose: 

The general purpose of the Alumni Board shall be to promote Midland Lutheran College:

The mission … MLC exists to inspire learners and leaders of purpose.

The values… Faith, Learning, Quality, Respect, Stewardship 

Positioning… Celebrate Tradition

Establishing a vision for a dynamic alumni program and advising and aiding the office of alumni relations in its work will achieve this purpose.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The basic responsibilities of the Alumni Board are as follows:

  • Actively participate in Board meetings and retreats.
  • As a board, help establish the vision for a dynamic alumni program in a thoughtful way and suggest new ideas and improvements.
  • Represent MLC in a positive and enthusiastic way, both at meetings and in the community.
  • Make an appropriate gift to MLC on an annual basis.
  • Attend Homecoming and Alumni Days and at least two other college events yearly, always encouraging uninvolved alumni/friends to attend.
  • Volunteer services at one or more Alumni sponsored activities per year.
  • Make service to the Board one of your top priorities.
  • Promote MLC to prospective students at every opportunity.
  • Be available to assist at off-site events in your locale.
  • Be a contact person for your geographic location or your specific career choice.

Term:

Board members are elected to four-year terms.  A Board member may be invited to serve two consecutive terms.
