Alumni Board Member Job Description
Purpose:
The general purpose of the Alumni Board shall be to promote Midland Lutheran College:
The mission … MLC exists to inspire learners and leaders of purpose.
The values… Faith, Learning, Quality, Respect, Stewardship
Positioning… Celebrate Tradition
Establishing a vision for a dynamic alumni program and advising and aiding the office of alumni relations in its work will achieve this purpose.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The basic responsibilities of the Alumni Board are as follows:
- Actively participate in Board meetings and retreats.
- As a board, help establish the vision for a dynamic alumni program in a thoughtful way and suggest new ideas and improvements.
- Represent MLC in a positive and enthusiastic way, both at meetings and in the community.
- Make an appropriate gift to MLC on an annual basis.
- Attend Homecoming and Alumni Days and at least two other college events yearly, always encouraging uninvolved alumni/friends to attend.
- Volunteer services at one or more Alumni sponsored activities per year.
- Make service to the Board one of your top priorities.
- Promote MLC to prospective students at every opportunity.
- Be available to assist at off-site events in your locale.
- Be a contact person for your geographic location or your specific career choice.
Term:
Board members are elected to four-year terms. A Board member may be invited to serve two consecutive terms.
