Midland Lutheran College’s Phi Beta Lambda (Business Fraternity) Chapter has decided to incorporate a new nationally recognized organization, Students In Free Enterprise.
SIFE is an international, non-profit organization founded in 1975 and is headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. As a Phi Beta Lambda Chapter, we have decided to adopt the SIFE program because of the unique opportunities available to college students. SIFE focuses on four specific areas of free enterprise: market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills, and business ethics. SIFE teams conduct educational outreach projects that help individuals in the community improve their quality of life and standard of living.
Each SIFE team is asked to assemble a Business Advisory Board, comprised of local business and community leaders. The Business Advisory Board is an essential asset to the success of a SIFE team. They can provide mentoring and guidance, advice on future projects, access to needed resources, and positive criticism for competition. As an important part of our community, we would like to invite you to join Midland’s Business Advisory Board.
As a first year organization, we were awarded SIFE Regional Champions and SIFE Regional Rookies of the year in Denver, Colorado. We then advanced to SIFE Nationals on May 24th, where we were awarded SIFE National Rookies of the Year. As you can see, we have had a busy year, but we are looking forward to bigger and better projects for the 2005-2006 academic school year.
As a part of our Business Advisory Board, we would like to invite you to offer suggestions for future projects. If you have any questions, or would like more information about SIFE or the role of Business Advisory Board Members, don’t hesitate to contact us at pbl@mlc.edu.
