Business Administration
Overview
In the turbulent and challenging world of business today, the business department of Midland Lutheran College is committed to giving its students an edge in achieving sustainable success by offering them:

In addition to the general business administration major, you may choose among six concentrations including accounting, business education, management information systems, management and marketing. All business administration majors are required to complete both a common core of business courses and the requirements from one of the concentration areas, but you will also explore a number of non-business courses. Your Midland education is based in the liberal arts, helping you strengthen your ability to write, think, reason and analyze.
Concentrations
Accounting This concentration prepares students for careers in private accounting, banking, government agencies and public accounting. To graduate from Midland, you are required to complete 128 credit hours, but accounting majors are strongly encouraged to complete 150 credit hours in preparation for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. Midland's program is designed to allow you to complete the additional credit hours within the traditional four years. Our accounting graduates have performed well above the national average on the (CPA) exam and accept positions with "Big Six" firms, open their own businesses or join the staffs of major corporations.
Business Education In this concentration, you'll be prepared to teach business courses at the secondary (grades 7-12) school level. Your course work for this major will be drawn from both the Business Department and the Education Department, and you’ll gain practical experience student teaching in area high school classrooms. Upon graduating, you will be certified to teach high school.
General Business This concentration is designed for students who plan to start a small business or enter a family business after graduation. You will develop a broad background in business through a variety of courses.
Management Information Systems In this concentration, you will combine a thorough education in business administration with an emphasis in computer science. This program emphasizes the management side of systems analysis. This is a growing field for graduates with quality training — Midland offers an innovative, quality program.
Management Dozens of Midland graduates have succeeded in business management positions in corporations spanning the country. Talented business managers are needed in all facets of administration: sales, personnel, production and more. Students interested in becoming entrepreneurs will find the management concentration invaluable.
Marketing This concentration prepares you to pursue a career in the diverse and growing field of marketing. You will be prepared to join the marketing department of a large corporation or a private firm. You will be ready to develop and carry out a strategic marketing plan. and create an effective local, regional and national marketing campaign.
